ATTENTION WESTMINSTER LANDLORDS - New Landlord Licensing Rules have now arrived in Westminster

The portal opened on the 1st October, all license applications will need to be submitted by 24th November - read on to find out what it involves and how we GLP can help.

As you will be aware from our previous correspondence on Westminster City Council's new Selective Licensing Scheme.

The Westminster Landlord licensing portal has now opened.

This means that almost all properties within the London Borough of Westminster will require a license from 24th November 2025.

As a team, we have now fully explored the portal and carried out registrations on behalf of a number of clients who have requested that we do so on their behalf. Further to this we have met with representatives of Westminster to express concerns about the short time frame for implementation and the validity of this process. Our comments and suggestions have been taken on board but as things stand if you are a landlord in Westminster operating without having applied for a license after 24th November 2025 you are liable for a fine of up to £30,000.

The license cost for five years is £995 Split into two payments: Part A is £543 when you apply; Part B £452 once license is granted. There are discounts made on Part B if the property hits certain energy efficiency standards.

You are of course welcome to carry out registration yourselves in the above link or if preferred we can carry out this service for you and are offering discounts to all Landlords for who GLP currently manage the property for.

The registration process is very time-consuming and by using us as the managing agent it will mean beyond your name, your personal details (including home address) need not be shared on a publicly accessible domain.

If you would like to know more please log your details in this form and myself or a member of the team will be in contact to help navigate this changing legislation ahead of the deadline and ensure you are not liable to fines and remain compliant.

We are as ever happy to be at your service.

Warm regards,

If you’re a parent in Dulwich or Herne Hill, you’ll know that school applications can feel a little daunting. Both junior and senior school places are applied for through your local council, and the deadlines are firm – so it’s always worth getting organised early.

That’s nearly two-thirds of sellers who were told their home was worth more than buyers were actually prepared to pay.
